To My Dearest Customers…

So many of you have asked me the story of our Bakery and how it came to be, so I thought I would share my tale with all of you. My name is Megan Palmer Dean and I am the Executive Pastry Chef at Palmer's Bakery which is located inside of Palmer's Market in Darien, Connecticut.
The market is owned and operated by my family and was originally opened in 1921 by my great, great grandfather. I have worked at the market for as long as I can remember and I have always had a love of food and cooking. When I turned 15 my attention turned specifically to pastry and I began whipping up desserts in my family’s kitchen.
With dreams of becoming a famous pastry chef, I made the decision to graduate early from high school and enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America. In 2005 I graduated with my culinary degree and moved to the Napa Valley campus to study pastry. Upon graduation I moved back to Connecticut and began designing the bakery which opened in early 2008.
Since day one, the most important thing has been the freshness and quality of our ingredients. Our menu is completely trans-fat free and strongly influenced by the seasonality of our ingredients. Our product line is not specifically French or Italian, it is a collection of my favorite recipes – from old Palmer family favorites to new creations we’ve developed here.
Opening this bakery is a dream come true. A dream which could never be realized without the help of my family and my fabulous devoted staff.
